CI Absences

Our students’ clinical education experiences are a high priority. We appreciate the ongoing commitment of Clinical Instructors to providing our undergraduate students with quality learning experiences. As a reminder, we would like to highlight the importance of minimizing CI absences. While we understand that bereavement, illness and other extenuating circumstances arise during the term, we request that CIs avoid booking as much as possible personal appointments that would impact our practicum placements. Finding a replacement CI is challenging and most of the time not possible. If we can find a suitable backup from our relief pool, we will continue with clinical. If we cannot find an appropriate replacement, the regularly scheduled CI is responsible for notifying students that clinical has been cancelled. It is important that CIs make every effort to keep to the schedule of clinical dates as canceling clinical causes great disappointment for our students.
